Once more to discuss the Beech dear friends.

This fine tree is at the corner of our garden. It is much loved by us and admired by others.
We don’t know exactly how old it is but it is probably over fifty.

It is a bit of a worry. It grows on a bank right next to a busy road. The thin soil on our limestone means that it is probably quite shallow rooted. Several years ago we had some of its upper branches removed but it has grown again. It was not too happy in the drought last Summer.

The result of all this is that we are awaiting a visit and advice from a professional tree surgeon who we know and trust.

We fear it may have to come down.  This would be a sad loss and of course it would be expensive with traffic lights or even road closure.

And of course you cannot quickly replace something like that. Mrs. K. would probably want to replace it with a vertical axis wind turbine but the planning authority will not allow those in our area.

I will report when the Surgeon has been.
