Glencorse Reservoir
Such a gloriously sunny day should not be wasted sitting indoors - so we told Miss Flum when we dropped in so, after a quick lunch of bacon sandwiches, we dragged encouraged her out to Flotterstone to walk up to the Glencorse reservoir.
Following much the same route as last time, we reached the waterfall and again walked up to the road, then continued up past the weir to the reservoir. The rooks were busy whirling across from tree to tree, catching up on their news and telling bedtime stories, across on the bund we noted a cormorant - or was it a heron? As we returned we realised there were both. .
Most of the walk was shaded, with warm sunshine playing on the hills to the north, and much of the path and road patchy with frozen run-off but we managed to reach good views of the reflected hills as the sun was going down and to return downhill without losing our footing.
Tonight may be the last of frost but the bird feeders are full and the foxes will be left some tasty leftovers. Winterwatch say urban foxes are becoming common? We know, we know.
