Kingfisher by its nest in a tree

This morning I had a wonderful time standing on the deck watching birds. The kingfisher flew into the bush and I focused through the tree ferns to its nest and got several shots which was very exciting! Then I saw three fantails, the first I’ve seen since arriving in New Zealand. I have never succeeded in getting THE shot and didn’t today either but I did manage some acceptable shots mostly in flight. Even at 8,000th of a second shutter speed they weren’t all sharp!
I also saw and photographed a New Zealand Hawk, a Tui and a Silver eye gathering nesting material from a tree fern. It was as good as some bird photography holidays:-)
