Early Morn

As the forecast was for a bright, sunny day I decided to get up early and head to the River Weaver for a short walk to Dutton Locks. I had to be very careful, the roadway was a sheet of ice in many places and treacherous, so I kept to the narrow verges. It helped my January bird list, I haven’t been so far into a month and seen so little wildlife. So firsts for this January - heron, kestrel, sparrowhawk, redwing and lapwing.

Young rowers were up early training too, one in this image with an instructor in a small boat giving encouragement.
