Birmingham

It is often claimed that the city of Birmingham has more canals than Venice. Here is a section of one of them. This shot was supplied by ArcLight for our online photo album of locations mentioned in Lorna Lloyd's Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series). Thank you ArcLight!

We know from her war diary entries that Lorna visited Birmingham in March 1940 (featured in Episode 4 of the podcast series), and that another visit to the city was planned in summer that year so that Lorna's mother could visit a specialist doctor (Episode 6). Lorna also reports damage to the city from raids in December the same year - on the 2nd and the 12th (Episode 7).

We're keen to hear from other blippers who think that they might be able to contribute shots to represent the places still on our list below. Please do check and let us know if you could help out with this challenge. Contributions do not necessarily need to be photographs of the places themselves. They could feature an object that represents the place instead, e.g. a plant from that part of the world, or a souvenir brought back from a holiday there.
