Castle

Expanded my walking to include the steep slope up to the castle to catch the light,  the clear sky and a couple of new geocaches..
The castle was a bustling manor in the 1400s , home to Catherine Parr's grandfather, William. In later life he spent a lot of time in London at the court of Edward IV but is buried in Kendal parish church.  I'll shall look for his tomb next time I'm in there. It was built as a castle to protect against Scottish raids. Apparently Kendal was raided by Robert the Bruce in 1322.  ( You can tell I read the information board)
