Water like chocolate
We spent the afternoon siting through a stunning and steamy Mexican ballet “Water Like chocolate” live streamed from the Royal Opera House.
This brand new ballet, based on the 1989 novel by Laura Esquivel, was later made into an award winning film in 1992.
It deals with powerful emotions of love, family dynamics, murder, suicide and death. Not for the faint-hearted.
M was one of two token men in the audience.
What does “water like chocolate” mean?
The phrase comes from the Spanish phrase como agua para chocolate. This is a common expression in many Spanish-speaking countries, and it means that one's emotions are on the verge of boiling over.
