Be prepared!

It being a miserable cold day and suffering as I am from a pulled leg muscle I have spent the morning scanning more old photographs.
This one, taken in 1914, is a studio portrait of Mistress Talpa's grandmother and her three boys, the babe in arms being her father.
The older boy in uniform was, of course, a Boy Scout.  Robert Baden-Powell, the English soldier who founded the Boy Scouts, had published the scout motto “Be Prepared” in his 1908 handbook, Scouting for Boys.
