Gertrude and Willie

On our way home from walking the dog this afternoon we got talking with a chap who was working on the demolition of an old bungalow near us. The site is being cleared to allow a new build. Hanging on the hedge were these two portraits of a couple whom he has christened Gertrude and Willie. The portraits were found in the attic of the house and their identity is not known. They are a fine looking couple and the chap reckons that Gertrude's eyes follow you wherever you go. I think he hopes to do some researching to try to find out more about them.
