Over a number of years Professor Jim Al-Khalili has done half hour interviews with over 200 Scientists. 
They always make compelling listening.

In fact the introduction of the BBC Sounds App has greatly increased and enriched my radio listening.
For example I am listening to a series on Russia discussing its history and development as a country and throwing light on the psychology behind the tragic events of the past year. It increases our understanding even if it does not reduce our despair.
