Fresh snowfall
Sunday
The snow started around 8am, which was very poor timing as far as church was concerned. Initially it was just very fine, but before too long the flakes were thicker and coming faster. We were due to be at church for 9am, as we were playing bells as well as singing this morning. I was very glad Roger was driving, as even with 4WD you still had to take it gingerly. We made it OK but unsurprisingly several others in our bell choir group didn’t make it, so we had to make a last minute decision to play another piece, which uses less bells, and is fairly straightforward,, but we had only run through it twice in practice as it was supposed to be for next month. The snow continued, and by the time we got to service time at 10 am, there were only about 12 people in the congregation, who weren’t involved in the choirs or sound system, or were related to them! However, there were enough people for our Bible study to take place. Although the snow ploughs had been round by the time we returned home, it was still snowing, so the roads still weren’t clear, and it was another slow drive home. As we pulled into our road we were following the snow plough, and he actually did one round (it’s a long cul de sac) and then came and did a second run - in fact you can just make it out left of the tree. I’m surprised they were doing cul de sacs rather than clearing the main road better. The forecast had said 2-4 inches, but by the time it was done, I would say it was at least 5. In the afternoon we watched the Bengals vs the Buffalo Bills in the play off game. It was snowing there too! The Bengals won, and now play the Kansas City Chiefs next weekend, and if they win that, they will play in the Super Bowl!
