Hospital Radio
I was walking through the hospital on my way out last night, thinking I hadn’t taken a photo for blip purposes, and at the same time that Elvis’s “jailhouse rock” ( playing in the corridor) wasn’t quite fitting my mood, when I noticed this board setting out the history of the hospital radio here. So that’s today’s blip.
I was listening the other day to an interview with Ken Bruce, who is moving on after over 40 years with BBC Radio 2. His broadcasting career started in hospital radio in Glasgow. It has given him a lasting dislike of the song “old shep”, recorded by Elvis’s and lots of others, which was forever being requested by elderly patients.
