I'm worried about my robin.

Well it is the robin that lives in my garden.  It has developed a dark patch below its eye. It has now spread to right round its eye. I don't know what it is. At first I thought it was a scar but it isn't. 
The image is not great but I think you can see what I mean.
He/she seems to be behaving normally, eating well and is lively.
