The fruits of the Ash

I'm always amazed when looking at ash trees, that these seed pods seem to stay glued to the tree forever. Some must break loose because there is no shortage of little ashes about. The strategy seems to be to produce so many progeny that some will stick. The ash is my favourite tree. And the oaks, of course. And willows.
