Today was an Arthur day . At the moment he spends a lot of time being Elsa from The Disney film,” Frozen .” He likes to take his character dolls with him wherever he goes and builds dens that are ice castles . He sings the songs and can recall the story in detail . I love watching children learn , it’s so interesting. Sometimes I think the adults main job is not to get in the way .
I happened to have an igloo tent in the loft that was once the reading corner In my classroom during winter . I had a beach tent for the Summer months .
He was delighted , as I thought he would be , but his first job was to make it bespoke with cushions , tables, cloths etc .
It made me think that all children really need is a few bits and pieces plus their imagination.
Earlier in the week I had some intensive play sessions with Florence, quite different but equally creative and similarly based on role play .
