Ridiculously Enormous Blades

A fine day, fairly calm and dry, and the odd sunny spells. Fairly chilly.

I headed into Lerwick after breakfast, then along Laura for a cuppa.  Another late shift in the airport.  I've been working on the check-in desk all day.  A couple of delays with the afternoon flights, but all on time this evening.  Big Brian and Madeline popped by for a cuppa tonight.  Walkies with Sammy, now feet up.

Viking Energy Windfarm has been claiming another milestone in the destruction of Shetland, parts of the turbines have arrived, the blades.  Each blade has to be transport thousands of miles to get here, now they need to be transported to the windfarm, which they've chosen three times a day at peak times.  Each turbine will stand at 156 metres, each blade is 57 metres.  It will be the size of an official football pitch spinning in the air, all 103 football pitch turbines.  Wonder what they'll do with them when they are decommissioned? They can't recycle the.  Sadly taken at the Greenhead base, Lerwick.
