This was my view at the end of a long, busy day.
It had started early at 5.30am for no discernible reason - might be Simmo’s fault actually, she mentioned last night that she routinely gets up at 5.30am - and I could not get back into anything approaching a meaningful sleep.
Regardless, I was able to get the children off to school and went on to have quite a busy and stressful day at work, but pleasantly punctuated by birthday messages from friends and family.
On collection from school, The Youngest was in tears as she recounted how her teacher had taken her mid-morning snack from her on the grounds that it “wasn’t suitable” (it was a cereal bar - the one day day I didn’t have any fruit in the house) and sent her to the office to ask for something else. Off the back of a coat which has clearly been stolen from The Youngest - and still hasn’t resurfaced - I was livid and let the school know that is was me they should be coming to. Regardless, they should literally not be taking food out of the mouths of children.
When the dust had settled, we had elected for a Domino’s tea and so sat, laughed and talked as we munched our way through. Then it was off to football training for m’boy (he’s doing great!) and on our return, the offspring all went off to conspire before reappearing with a cake that they had all made together when I was out with Simmo last night!
It was a genuinely lovely surprise and despite The Eldest’s misgiving about its appearance, the cake was delicious and we finished our day enjoying it in front of the wee one’s favourite episode of Big Bang Theory (the one where Sheldon gets all the cats - “Zazzy”).
45 not out.
