End of birthday jamboree

The Great Ottawacker Jr Birthday Jamboree came to a close with a movie and pizza event at home. We'll have to make sure he knows that this endless procession of celebration is primarily because Covid deprived him of two birthday parties and not because it is what people do. Still, no denying it is fun to see him happy and enjoying time with his friends.

The Rise of Gru was the choice of film and, in case you have been hiding under a rock for the past decade, it is part of the Despicable Me franchise. Another way of saying that is that it's brilliant and highly recommended for anyone with a pulse.

Certainly, the four boys sitting in our back room eating chips and pizza seemed to like it: it is, by count, the fifth time Ottawacker Jr has seen the DVD and I am sure it won't be the last. He has the voice of the minions down pat, and is already learning how to use it to disarm awkward situations. I am not entirely sure this is a good thing, especially when said awkward situations concern an untidy bedroom, laundry not being put in the basket or the usual chaos surrounding the clearing of the table, but whatever.
