Antipodean Albatross
This very rare visitor to our shores was picked up yesterday very near death. Our vet has been rehydrating it, and medicating it. It is responding slowly. Such a huge beauty. Adult birds are 4.5 - 8kg in weight. This fellow is a juvenile, and very underweight. Global warming is causing our sea temperature to rise, which in turns sends fish deep down into colder water. The result is no fish near surface of the sea for our sea birds. They are starving to death. A very sad serious problem.
