It will soon be time to attend ringing practice. Many layers will be required a as the temperature is still barely above zero. There was some sunshine in the morning so I walked up to the belvedere by a different route, meeting a couple of people on the way for a chat. I had a sad email in the morning confirming the passing of a good friend. I was only hiking with him in October and learnt of his brain tumour before Christmas. At least his decline was rapid and he did not suffer. He was only 62.
