Repair cafe
This is Bill, looking at my electric throw/blanket. We never did work out why sometimes it behaves and sometimes not, but Bill tested the circuit board many times and finally said he'd 'blessed it'! Since then it has been behaving more often than not. Bill tells me he's been working with electronics since he was 10 years old. When I arrived he was working on a Miele vacuum cleaner. A woman at the next table was having an electric iron taken apart.
There were also tables where textile repairs were being carried out, with help from experts; a group of women sitting on a long sofa in a row, all knitting; and cafe-style tables where soup and cakes could be eaten. Several central tables were taken up with a fabric sale.
This repair cafe happens in Stroud once a month, at the Trinity Rooms, with different types of repairs each time. Volunteers donate their time and skills, and customers donate what they can afford.
The rest of the day was spent mainly catching up with online trainings. I still work for a charity occasionally, so I have to keep up with all their relevant trainings, plus there was the cards sellers' online conference last weekend to relive on catchup. The only thing I haven't managed to do is to visit a Zoom recording of an Early Morning Stretch class!
