Thomas Paine

A mural of Thomas Paine beneath the market tower in Lewes. Paine was a resident of Lewes from 1768 until 1774 when he emigrated to the America colonies. He is of course famous as the author of the Rights of Man (1791) and co-author of the French constitution (1792).
