On the road

The title is accurate is different ways. We were "on the road" home from Vemdalen, and I was literally "on the road", standing in the middle of it to get this photo. (Don't try this on a UK road!)
We'd become irritated by a rattle from some tins in a bag on the back seat and Jan spotted a lay-by where I could stop and we could sort the problem. As that was happening I realised the risk of not having a picture at the end of the day so I took a few shots, and liked this one best. During our ten minute stop a single car went by, so standing in the road was not a risky activity.
On the right is Handsjön, a lake on the Ljungan River, but lakes that are well iced over and covered in snow aren't so very photogenic so I opted for the road, with thoughts of perspective and vanishing points.
The road is the 315, and we are a few kilometres from the village of Överturingen.  The bigger roads in our part of the world are snow-free at the moment, but this snowy/icy surface is fairly typical of the smaller roads, that are about a third of our drive.
We arrived home well before it got dark after about 4 hours of driving.
Not quite the weather we had as we drove out to Vemdalen last Thursday.
Tomorrow more visitors arrive!
