Mellow Yellow

A bit of an emergency blip today. I’ve been at a funeral this afternoon, and it’s rehearsal again tonight, so I’ve resorted to a picture of the trainers I bought yesterday.
About eighteen months ago I bought my first proper pair of running shoes from Pete Bland Sports in Kendal, and was very impressed with the standard of service, and the lengths they went to in ensuring I got just the right shoes for me. Pre-covid, they regularly used to hold a clearance sale of old stock and end of line items around this time of year and I was delighted to see that it had returned this year. Accordingly, I headed down to the Parish Hall yesterday morning in the hope of securing a bargain.
My eye was immediately drawn to a selection of trainers, all priced at £30. The obvious drawback for most punters was that they were sizes 8 and 8.5 only. However, these are my size so I dived in to see what was on offer. When I bought my Asics I had tried a pair of Hokas but thought they were a bit too “spongy”. A bit of Googling however, suggested that these particular Hokas had a much firmer sole, and thus it proved to be when I tried them on. They fitted well and felt comfortable. The speed laces appealed to my lazy side and I was rather taken with the colour.
Whether I wear them to the gym, do some mild trail running in them (my Asics are road only) or just wear them around and about remains to be seen. But, as the assistant said “you can’t go wrong at that price”. With an original RRP of £170 (according to Google) I’d have to say no, you can’t!
