Articulation

I had to drop off some things in Glasgow today and as we were near the Burrell collection our son and I revisited it. It is a wonderful collection of treasures, beautifully displayed.

The building was originally opened formally by Queen Elizabeth II in 1983. The revamped building was opened formally in October last by King Charles III. It had re-opened after a lengthy closure for renovation and since then recently had its 500,000 visitor.

I was fascinated by this suit of German armour (approx 1540) made of steel and leather intricately designed and articulated to provide maximum protection.

A walk afterwards round Pollok House gardens let to the site of the Pollok Beech, yet another fallen tree (see Saturday last for the Beauly elm). This one did not collapse after a gale. Instead the 250 year old tree - the wishing tree - was set on fire by vandals in 2017 and split in two.

Afterwards we visited friends in the south side of Glasgow before heading home just after the worst of the rush hour.
