The Midnight Butcher

We had a good return journey home last night although the M6 was closed near Chorley which added half an hour to the journey time..

When people talk about butchers in Grange-over-Sands they are usually referring to Higginsons, an excellent butcher and pie maker located near to the Post Office.  There is, however, another less well advertised establishment that locals sometimes refer to as the 'Midnight Butcher' because, I am told, the lights are often on well into the night.  I know that at least one local eatery obtains its meat from this butcher because, when I complimented the chef on the quality of the meat I had been served, I was told it had come from Proctors - the 'Midnight Butcher.'  The exterior may not be very modern or inviting but my experience of their produce was excellent.
