Silly Saturday ...
... Road trip!
To the Tobyhanna Ice Harvesting Festival ... or what should have been the festival! Unfortunately because of the mild winter so far the pond wasn't frozen enough for them to safely harvest any ice. But since it was the 30th anniversary of said Ice Harvesting Festival we wanted to get up there. There were still some activities going on ... just no ice harvesting! Our last visit to the festival was in 2019 when there was thicker ice!
We had fun walking around looking at the equipment and the pond itself ... I've added an Extra photo of the pond. The extra photo is a pano of 5-6 shots stitched together in Photoshop. The young lady in the lower right of this collage was from a local news station doing a report of the festival. I thought it was silly that she was there alone ... with no one to help her record. She set up the video equipment and filmed everything herself.
After leaving the festival grounds we drove to Tobyhanna State Park ... which was nearby and someplace we hadn't been to before. The lake here was quite frozen as you can see by Richard standing out on it! And there were also several ice fishermen! Brrrrrr! We have heard that this park is great for kayaking so we may have to make another trip this summer when it'll be much warmer!
Also nearby was the Coolbaugh Township Historical Museum. This was another place we hadn't visited in the past so we checked it out. There was a lovely woman in the museum (a house actually) that took us on the wonderful of the place and explained the history of the house.
On the way home we stopped at a few places to do some shopping but were home by 4:30 pm. It was a really fantastic day out with awesome company!
Backblipped: January 31.
