Tewkesbury Jaunt

We'd decided yesterday we might go for a drive to Tewkesbury today. We nearly didn't go as it was after 9am before we woke up. This was largely due to the curious incident of me knocking over a glass of water in the night. Luckily it missed my phone and Echo Dot alarm clock but it took me ages to mop up and get back to sleep again.

We made it though and had a nice day, with very nice sausage and egg butties for lunch. We made a very fruitful tour of the charity shops - there isn't actually much else there. Mrsfb bought two more book reading items, another figurine (£6 for a pair but she only wanted the one with the book but still paid the full price) and a teddy sitting reading on a pile of books which turned out to be a musical item with a wind up key underneath. Not bad for £2.50.

And I bought a new camera! Not a new one of course - A Fujica ST605N which was the very first proper camera I had. It cost me £10 and the lady pointed out that the lens was 'sticky' and the diaphragm was 'slow' but I explained that I didn't actually want to take any photos with it, just clean it up and put it on display somewhere. I will no doubt blip it one day. I still think it is a very elegant looking camera. Everyone else at the time had Prakticas which I thought were a bit ugly.

There was also a curious incident at camera club last night. My friend J insisted on buying his raffle tickets before me, his rationale being that he always buys the strip after mine, but I often win. And blow me down it paid off and he won! The best bit though was that when I dropped him off he insisted I keep the chocolates he won anyway, I guess as a reward for the lifts each week!

Back to Tewkesbury though. We popped into the abbey on the way back to the car (extras). They were doing organ sound checks for Evensong and for a moment I thought Rick Wakeman was there.
