Nostalgia Day
After a 54-year production run, with 1,574 aircraft built, the last Boeing 747 was handed over to the customer, Atlas Air, today. The occasion was marked by an event in the Everett factory building where all those planes had been assembled. Speakers included past and present executives from Boeing, engine manufacturers and several airlines.
I was part of the so-called UK "brain drain" in January 1966, recruited by Boeing, and started work in the early days of the 747 design program. I have very fond memories of that time.
I wonder how many people were there today?
