Where the men went
This photo shows a section of a wall of one of the former railway workshops at nearby South Eveleigh. Now heritage listed, the workshops operated between 1882 and 1988.
It's not immediately obvious what we're looking at here, but beneath the window is a urinal. One of the sites I visited while researching this location's history stated that indoor toilets for workers were first introduced in 1910. That's a long time out in the cold for part of the year.
