Cramond causeway at high tide.

Cramond Island is a tidal island in the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh. The island is accessed by a causeway on the upstream side of the WWII shipping etc barricade which stands proud in the water. The two bollards in the water are on the causeway path, they’re maybe a metre high. The route is submerged at high tide, cutting off the island, as in the photograph. It’s about a 15 minute walk across, and can be quite slippery. There are tide timetables at each end.

We walked along the foreshore promenade and watched a couple of windsurfers. We kept an eye on flights on final approach to Edinburgh Airport. They’d have had nice views today. It was bracing later as we walked back into the wind. Wet by evening.
