St Brigid’s Cross
As well as making a loaf this morning, I thought I would learn how to make a St Brigid’s Cross. These are traditionally made in Ireland from rushes or straw, but I have also seen them on the Isle of Barra.
Today is St Brigid’s Day, which coincides with the Gaelic celebration of Imbolc. From next year it will be a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland. It sounds as though Brigid was an inspirational woman - you can read more about her here : https://www.irishpost.com/life-style/who-was-saint-brigid-and-how-do-the-irish-celebrate-saint-brigids-day-202710
