Coffin Lane
Hasn’t been the cheeriest of days. Picked my uncle Robert up to go to my cousin John’s funeral. Back in the day we lived at opposite ends of the street then went our separate ways. Always a bit sad when that happens and before you know it you’re listening to a eulogy. Was good to catch up with his twin sister and my uncle though.
Back home for a quick bite then off to Tynecastle where the Jambo’s manager inexplicably decided on a change of tactics and a changed lineup. Unsurprisingly that resulted in a change in performance; not for the better as we were hammered! Ah well, nipped into the Diggers with DougM (JacktheLad picking a good match to miss - another Covid attack!) where John’s wake was still going strong so I managed another word with his son before he headed back to the States on an early morning flight, assuming his hangover allowed it, and also a few words with the Pensioner, similarly bemused by the Jambo’s performance.
Just to complete the day’s gloomy theme, I headed home via Coffin Lane where the council have gone overboard with their energy-saving street lighting. I actually thought most of the bulbs had blown!
