Fast enough

I love travelling by train. Being given two or more uninterrupted hours to sit in comfort and read, or watch the world go by, is like a gift to me. It is such a shame that people are wary of travelling by train now because of some lines that are failing. If only there was a countrywide network of lines like the LNER - reliable, efficient service; comfortable, fast Azuma trains. We drive across to Darlington in order to get the London train to Kings Cross, rather than take our chances with the West Coast line. This is sad. 

Wouldn't such an updated, reliable network be preferable to one extremely expensive and exclusive  high speed line which few people will use . . . if it ever gets finished.
