Expressive Portraits Week 4
This was from Monday of this week. Colour sketch in oil paint. Lenneart's away for three weeks now so 'homework' is another natural colours version and draw the outline on canvas (50 x 40 cm).
The extra is 'as painted' and when I hit auto enhance this was the result! Interesting that the dark colour has gone blue. That was a mix of Payne's grey (which is a blue-black) and phthalo blue. The rest are phthalo blue and titanium white mixes. The background is white paper!
A very interesting meeting this morning on dementia and sleep studies, including the effect of sleep apnoea. The group was a mix of people with dementia and carers. We were mostly providing feedback on project documents and the one we all liked may not be passed by the ethics committee! I said well if they want public contributors (a prerequisite to get funding) then they need to be willing to listen to those contributors, and I was happy to join the research team and tell them so! In all honesty I don't know where there aren't templates that autofill the project details, but then I suppose they would have less work! Mr T was brilliant today, and although he doesn't speak, he does at least say hello and wave now! He has really enjoyed the last two days and seeing him engaged and talking about it is wonderful.
I think the new neighbour is also going to work well. She is very good with Mr T and today I decided to take advantage of a couple of hours to decorate a bit more in his room. They were chatting and laughing. She has quickly realised that his sight loss makes most activities too difficult for him. I said though just talking to someone else about different things is a good brain exercise for him.
Have done Draw Brighton Patreon portrait club for the first time tonight which was a new experience. There's about 5 people in a group and everyone poses once for 8 minutes. I sat still for a whole 8 minutes!
Just saw Mr T's Blip. He has an adjustable hospital bed and now has a dynamic air mattress. It's super comfy! It is designed to help him move in bed as it is air filled, and then it periodically tops up the air.
