Delta Works

It's 70 years onwards now that a Northern storm and spring tide caused flooding of the West of Holland; the provinces of Zeeland and South Holland succumbed from the sea waters. People and cattle were drowned.
This tragedy of seven decades ago is memorized nationally now, partly because of it's 70 years ago and also because it shows the dangers we face from climate change.

In this blip I pictured the Maeslant Barrier one of the final parts realized in the Delta Works, the Dutch answer to the risk from flooding by the sea waters. Nowadays many know that more needs to be done to protect the Netherlands, than was realized by those Delta Works.
