Mennonite Tattoo
Today I was on the hunt for a suitable tattoo blip for still another day, and in particular, tattoo words, because I am fascinated with the artistic words people attach to their personal visible canvases. So I spotted this guy in the Windy Saddle with what appeared to be Hebrew script, indeed, on the inside of both arms.
The script on his right arm translated reads "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." (Deut 6:5) and the one on his left is other great commandment "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself". (Lev 19.180.
Gareth works often with people who have gotten into trouble with the law. His tattoos are conversation starters for him. It turned out that both of us had Mennonite roots (not Amish!). [Historically Mennonites had strong pacifist preferences and a predilection to living simply.]
