Flower Fungus

Aseroe rubra. A member of the Stinkhorn family.  Found this morning on a track in the bush. The smell of Stinkhorns is revolting and attracts hordes of flies which feed on the mucus in the 'flowers'. When they leave they take spores with them for distribution elsewhere.
Extra. The basket used for collecting eggs was spotted by Rosie when I put it on the path while I did my shoes up. In another week or two she won't be able to fit in it.
