CONSTRUCTION WORK ON SILLY SATURDAY

Hello Lovely Blippers,

When we heard Mr. HCB say he had to go up into the loft to look at the ballcock in the water tank, we thought it would be good to go up with him, so we all gathered at the foot of the ladder.  However, it was not to be - he decided it would be too dangerous for us all to go up and down the ladder, so we had to wait until he had finished up there.

When he came down, he had a large blue case in his hands and when we opened it, we found that it was a construction game called K’NEX.  We think it belonged to their grandson, but it was very dusty and obviously hadn’t been used for a very long time.  

You know Mrs. HCB, she had to research this and found out from Mr. Google that it was first introduced in America in 1992 - before many of us were born - by Joel Glickman.  It’s a rod and connector building system that you can build and you can make it move too - in fact, there is a little motor, but we will look at that later when we have built something.  

Apparently, when Joel Glickman invented K'NEX over 30 years ago he didn't plan on designing an educational toy, all he wanted to do was show kids the only limit to building was the size of their imagination!  Well, together we have a great imagination, so we know we will have great fun with this - and we are sure that Admirer would love to see some of the good and perhaps even silly things that we make.

Mr. HCB was thinking about going out into the garden to do some work, but we think he will be staying in with us and making lots of different things.  Mrs. HCB likes any excuse to get out of doing housework, so she will probably be helping too.  We also think that HarlingDarling, one of Mrs. HCB’s Blip friends would love it too because she was showing us some Geomag, another construction toy, in one of her recent Blips.  Perhaps we could all get together sometime - that would be fun!

Anyway, we hope you all have a good weekend - we won’t be going far but will enjoy being with one another and we hope that you have a lovely time whatever you choose to do - but if you feel like popping in to see us, do come - there’s always hot chocolate and marshmallows on a Saturday!
