Beautiful Barley Barn

I went to Freeport Designer Outlet Village in Braintree today to get some Hollister joggers for my grandson. It is slightly more pleasant than an enclosed shopping mall but a temple to Mammon nonetheless.

I decided to visit the nearby Cressing Temple Barns as an antidote. I had the whole site pretty much to myself. The barns were constructed from oak by the Knights Templar, the real ones not Dan Brown's, in the thirteenth century. The Barley Barn pictured is the oldest timber-framed barn in the world.
