Goldfinch

I didn't go out at all today, spending the morning on some DIY projects before feasting on the Six Nations Rugby in the afternoon.  As such opportunities for photographs were limited.  I left the camera next to me as I watched the rugby and this little chap obliged by giving me the stare.

When I did the RSPB garden watch last week, goldfinches were by far the largest proportion of my views during the hour, almost beating all of the other bird species combined.  Looking at the national picture they do not feature in the top ten of most seen birds so I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky as they are one of the more colourful of garden visitors.
