In the Old Town - Split, Croatia
We travelled up from Dubrovnik to Split today, then spent the afternoon and evening wandering the old town alleyways until 10.30pm tonight.
The Mistress loves the early night when the sky is a wonderful blue against the buildings and the lights just come on. It's such a lovely time for photography.
Split is the oldest city in Croatia, with evidence it started as early as 6th Century BC. The Diocletians Palace was built in AD 350, which is just round the corner from this little alleyway.
We loved all the little restaurants and tables and chairs in the alleyways, the friendliness of the people, the traditional hand made jewellery, the colours, the ancient roman ruins and the Egyptian Sphinx which is ages old and brought over from Egypt in around 360AD when the palace was constructed. The marble cobblestones were a delight to walk on.
Split is beautiful.
