Can Anyone Help?

I've been photographing some natural objects for our next camera club competition which is on the theme of 'Form in Nature' and Bom kindly lent me these.  They came in a pack of Christmas Pot Pourri but we have no idea what they are. They are about 4cm long and 2cm wide and have a slightly fibrous feel to them. Some sort of seed pod perhaps?
Any ideas?

PS: thank you so much for responding and suggesting nutmeg. Yes, of course and the fibres on the outside will be mace.
