The Cake

This is the Runeberg's Cake. The man Runeberg (5. Feb. 1804-77) is the national poet of Finland. He was a true gourmand, whom his wife pampered e.g. with this cake. It is customary to enjoy this delicacy on his birthday. It's peppered with almond, covered with raspberry jelly (with a sugary ring) and moistened with rum.  I've eaten two of them this year.
