Over the fields
Today's my birthday. I woke to sunshine, Indie sleeping beside me on the pillow, nestled against my cheek.
Cards and tea were delivered by CleanSteve, and a present (a hand poured candle I chose yesterday from the Made in Stroud shop). Then I remembered there was another bag of presents...
When I got up, CleanSteve made brunch (scrambled egg on toast and coffee) then we decided to go for a walk or drive. I wanted to revisit a Cotwold village I'd been to last year on a walk, but I couldn't remember the name! Do not laugh. There are places around here called Guiting Power, Ready Token, and Shipton Sollars.
In the absence of memory, we decided on a short walk around Painswick, another Cotswold village just a few miles from Stroud. Socio-economically, it's a tad further removed. We followed a route in a Little Cotswold Walks guide, which took us through the churchyard, past the village stocks, down the valley, back up again, through the fields, past the rugby club and tennis courts, up the brow of the hill on the Cotswold way long-distance trail, round the big houses, and back to the church. Took us about an hour, and the sun shone all the way. There was still a nip in the air, but this is to be expected.
After a quick trip to Tesco's, we drove home and I went to bed because my tummy aches (it still does) then Steve cooked supper and we watched Rebus, where the body count was waaaay too high.
It's been a lovely day, and I'm only sorry that the weekend has to end!
