After The Rain

      During the night we heard the beginnings of the rain on the roof.  The sound ebbed and flowed as the rain clouds rolled over but it never quit.  The dawn brought light but no sunshine and the gloomy rain continued until just before noon.
      In less than an hour the sandy soil had soaked up all the puddles and the breeze dried out everything else.  There's an amazing difference between here and West Virginia in the aftermath of a rain shower.
