Waitangi Day, NZ s National Day

Seemed appropriate to blip something essentially NZ. This tiny book is a Lilliputian dictionary of Maori place names. Around sixty years ago we gave it to my father-in-law as a gift and when he passed on received it back.
Today is the day we take time to remember the signing of The Treaty of Waitangi, a document of agreement signed in Waitangi between the Maori and The Pakeha and has been argued about ever since. In latter years many millions has been handed back to the maoris to honour the treaty and paying back for the land we confiscated from them. Too complex for me I just want to live as one people
Another very hot day but got a bit of gardening done. Lawns got mowed this afternoon and look great. Money well spent as they are too much for me. Tonight when it was much cooler I went out and dead headed roses.
