Another Use for Grandma's Buttons
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax— Of cabbages—and kings" I love sealing wax and I've learned that you can use old metal buttons to make the stamps by embedding them into wine corks. The photo on the top shows two. I like the one of the knight on his horse in the upper left. (Another Alice in Wonderland reference.) I used a cork from my sherry bottle. The device on the right is the wax melter, and behind it is a carved stone chop I had made when I was in China years ago. The bottom photo is the finished two page spread in my latest altered book. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks! 'Curiouser and curiouser!”
Gift#37: learning a new trick.
