Mysterious Painting
The last of my surface texture series. The mysterious painting was found in the attic of a house I lived in over 25 years ago under some floorboards. It was almost black when we found it. My mother decided to have it looked at and cleaned and this picture was revealed to us. Its an oil hence being part of my series as you can see the texture of the paint and the canvas it is painted on. Place and time is unknown of its origin, maybe late 1800's, the subject is a river with a maori canoe with reeds in it. Possibly on the Whanganui River but but who knows for sure. Now its framed and hangs in the hallway away from direct sunlight so it does not fade in the sunlight.
A fitting end to my series I hope you will agree.
