Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 261

This is Jim. He drives the tractor on the beach. He is also very adept with a spade too. . Jim is a source of endless anecdotes about life on the sea front. He told me about an internet rave that was convened on the Prom a few years ago that wrought havoc with the formal community gardens and saw a massive bonfire of residential wheelie bins on the beach. Today he prepares for all the extra Kilt Walker and Pedal on Parliament traffic along the Prom on Sunday. Both these events will be far less controversial and supporting excellent causes.

It was a surprisingly mild morning. The sea was calm and the visibility was blurred by a theatrical haze. Too bad that I have to tear myself away from this tranquil scene and join the automotive conveyor belt to the south west of England.
